September 09 2022 - suncoastchryslerjeepdodgeram_author

Since being introduced in 2016, the Chrysler Pacifica has become one of the top family vehicles on the road. A Chrysler minivan is large, safe, reliable, and comfortable. Chrysler also made a wise and bold decision to release both a gas and hybrid engine version of the Pacifica. Hybrid and electric vehicles are more common today, but even just five years ago, they were a novel technology. However, the hybrid Chrysler Pacifica has always been a great vehicle for those looking for a more fuel efficient minivan. Whether you’re shopping pre-owned models, or the newest version, the Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid both remain great options. Ready to decide which version is for you? We can help break it down for you.

Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Similarities

Let’s start by talking about what features these two minivans have in common.  Regardless of which version you choose, the vehicle design will always be identical. Every Chrysler Pacifica seats seven passengers in complete comfort. The three rows of seats are all spacious with the same dimensions. The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica hybrid both have 165 cubic feet of passenger volume. Both Chrysler Pacifica models also have the same technologies and features available to them. This includes Chrysler’s advanced safety features. Full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring are all included. When choosing a family vehicle, safety is always a top priority. Chrysler made sure to design every Chrysler Pacifica model with top safety in mind.

Chrysler Pacifica vs. Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

Here are the ways in which the Pacifica and Hybrid Pacifica differ.

Fuel Economy

Any hybrid model will always beat a gas engine model in terms of fuel economy. So it’s no surprise that the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid offers a much more fuel efficient ride. The plug-in hybrid 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has an electric-only range of 32 miles. When combined with its gas power capabilities, the hybrid minivan has an overall range of 520 miles. That averages out to roughly the equivalent of 30 miles per gallon for the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. By comparison, the gas engine Chrysler Pacifica gets a combined 22 MPGs. While that is good performance for a full size minivan, it is several steps behind the hybrid version.

Powertrain

Both Chrysler Pacificas share the same gas engine: a 3.6L V6. But the Chrysler is also powered in part by a 16 kWh electric battery paired with two electric motors. This results in a slight difference in overall power output between the two models. The gas engine Chrysler Pacifica produces 287 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, on the other hand, produces 260 horsepower.  Additionally, all 2022 Chrysler Pacifica models are available only with front-wheel drive. The gas engine Pacifica is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, depending on the trim level.

Cost of Ownership

The price tag is the final determining factor when considering which Chrysler Pacifica is right for you. As is to be expected, the hybrid model is more expensive. For the 2022 models, the hybrid version starts at $46,978. The gas engine Pacifica has a starting price of $37,095. However, upfront cost is not the only thing to consider when factoring in vehicle price. The plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica will save drivers hundreds of dollars annually at the gas pump as well.
