2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: What’s Coming in 2023?
2022 saw an ongoing legend that’s continuing beyond 2023: The Legend of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has the kind of epic performance we’ve come to expect from Jeep. Do the new 2023 models uphold the same abilities? The best way to foretell the future is to look back at what Jeep has offered in previous years.
The Rubicon wasn’t released or designed in a vacuum or as a singular example. It’s part of the iconic Rubicon trim (and the equally noteworthy Wrangler line). We’ll see how the Rubicon’s legendary performance extends back to 2021 to forecast how it will perform in 2023.
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: 2022’s Legendary Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is well-known from top to bottom, and inside to outside. Even its name is legendary! Its namesake, the Rubicon River, has become a historic name due to its association with Julius Caesar. Caesar’s crossing of the Rubicon marked the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire. Once you get behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, you’ll also feel like there’s no turning back.
One reason there’s no going back after experiencing a Rubicon is the power behind its 6.4L HEMI V8 engine. The Rubicon’s engine gives it 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-feet of torque. It can go 0-to-60 in 4.5 seconds, covering the first quarter mile in 13 seconds flat.
The Wrangler Rubicon has been Trail Rated by Jeep to prove the extent of its offroad capabilities. With its Hydro-Guide Air Induction system further enhancing engine performance, this model is perfect for an off-road adventure. The system guides cooler air toward the engine and helps separate water from the intake in wet conditions. Whatever river you’re trying to cross, even if it isn’t the mighty Rubicon, it will be handily conquered driving the Rubicon.
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
The Rubicon didn’t suddenly become a legendary member of the Jeep lineup in 2022. The 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon brings with it almost all of the same features the 2022 Rubicon uses so well.
The Rubicon, in particular, and the Wrangler in general were designed with offroading in mind. This includes a best-in-class approach and departure angles as well as best-in-class ground clearance and water fording depth. There isn’t another vehicle in the Wrangler’s class better suited for handling offroad terrain, including hazards like uneven terrain. With the Rubicon’s additional trim features and 4-wheel drive capabilities, you’ll be properly equipped for whatever offroading adventures are ahead.
The Wrangler wasn’t named the 2022 FourWheeler SUV of the year purely on account of its looks. It has the same engine performance, the same trail rating, and the same Hydro-Guide Air Induction system. It also has the same kinds of electronics and safety features you’d expect on the more recent model.
There have been improvements made and performance tweaks, but the Rubicon legend lives on. The 2021 Wrangler Rubicon is a powerful Jeep that performs with power, strength, and durability. The 2022 Rubicon more than aptly lives up to that legacy as well. The 2023 Rubicons have big tires to fill (35 inches) but they appear to be up for the challenge.
